With the encouragement of past
existing North Carolina State and National School Organizations, the North
Carolina Retired School Personnel (NCRSP) was organized in the early 1960s.
It is a division of the NCAE and an affiliate of the NEA and NRTA.
District IV of the North Carolina Retired School
Personnel was established in July 1991, to enable neighboring counties to
coordinate the activities of the Retired School Personnel between the local
and state levels. Alleghany, Davie, Iredell, Salisbury-Rowan, Surry,
Wilkes, and Yadkin counties are involved in District IV activities.
The group's main objectives are to provide a liaison
between the NCRSP and the local units, to keep aware of all issues affecting
retired school personnel at the district level, to keep abreast of and
coordinate the district activities, and to enjoy the fellowship of others
with similar interests.
Membership
here are various
benefits of membership. These include: Available liaison between the NCRSP and the local units, communication exchange, training, and material
distribution point for units in close proximity, position to engage in a larger unit for
endorsements, available leader to represent the district at
critical meetings within the community and state and to the media, and opportunities to become acquainted with and enjoy
the fellowship of RSP members from other units.
Membership in the District IV Retired School
Personnel is available to any person who has retired from active service in
a public, private, or technical school organization in North Carolina, or in
another state but who presently resides in North Carolina, and is an active
member of any one of the seven units involved. For a membership form,
go to http://www.ncrsp.org. The dues are payable after July 1st. of
each calendar year to the Treasurer of the local unit, or North Carolina
Retirees may pay their dues through payroll deduction.
Board meetings are held four times annually -
Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring - at the Yadkin County Board of Education
Building in Yadkinville, North Carolina, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
District Officers and Committee Chairmen represent the seven local units;
however, any member of the involved local units may attend the Board
Meetings. There is also a Fall District IV Conference where members of
District IV are urged to attend to discuss issues, to make plans to carry
out the purpose of the organization, and to enjoy fellowship.
